Band Program Readiness Checklist

Band camp is coming. You've got drill to plan, music to distribute, a rehearsal schedule to finalize, and approximately 497 emails to answer. The last thing you have time for is standing in your storage room, trying to remember whether you ordered gloves last spring or the spring before, and whether 30 pairs is still enough now that your program grew.

It's a lot. Every director knows that feeling: the season is almost here, and somewhere in the back of your mind you know there's something you've forgotten. There always is.

That's exactly why we built the American Band Program Readiness Checklist.

It's a simple, organized tool that walks you through every corner of your program, from the practice field to Friday Nights to the performance stage,  and helps you take stock of where you actually stand before the season gets away from you.

What it Covers:

Marching uniforms and accessories:

Jackets, bibbers, shoes, gloves, shakos, plumes, shako wraps. The stuff that takes the longest to replace and the stuff that always seems to need it.

Color guard:

Costumes, flags, boots, rifles, sabres, flagpoles, poms, tape. Guard needs are easy to underestimate until suddenly you're two weeks out and short on show flags.

Concert band:

Attire, shoes, accessories. Concert season feels far away in July, but it arrives faster than you think, and concert wear has its own lead times.

Apparel, equipment, and bags:

Rain gear, windsuits, garment bags, equipment carts, drum major equipment, electronics, music stands. The things you use every single day that you stop noticing until they break.

For each item, you just mark where you stand: good shape, need to purchase, need to replenish, or don't use. If something needs replenishing, there's a field to note what you're currently using, brand, style, quantity, so that when you're ready to order, you're not starting from scratch trying to remember.

One place for all of it

One thing directors tell us over and over:  they didn't realize how much American Band carries until they actually looked. Shoes and gloves, sure. But also flags, costumes, rain gear, equipment carts, electronics, concert attire, and more. The whole year, not just the marching season.

If you find things you need, your checklist goes to an Account Executive who can help you sort through options, check availability, and figure out timing. But there's no obligation, and no one is going to push you toward anything. The checklist is yours to keep regardless, and share with your boosters, staff, and other helpers. You'll get a copy in your email when you're done.

Take ten minutes to get organized before it gets busy

The best time to do this kind of audit is before you actually need something. Once band camp is underway, you're in survival mode. Right now, you still have a minute to think.

The checklist takes about ten minutes. It covers the whole year. And it might surface something you've been meaning to deal with since last October.
